Barsky Biography
Paul
Barsky has been entertaining radio listeners with his unique comedic style
since his college days in upstate New York. After a few years in Rochester,
his big break came when he answered a "blind box" ad in the back of Radio
and Records looking for" Radio's Next Superstar". It turned out that the
ad was for a new national satellite network that ABC Radio was constructing
called SUPERADIO. Barsky was selected from hundreds of tapes that were
submitted. Unfortunately, this concept proved to be years ahead of its
time and never got off the ground. But the opportunity opened the door
to Barsky's first major market morning show at CBS Radio's WCAU-FM in
Philadelphia.
At WCAU-FM "The Barsky Show" was one of the most listened to Top 40 morning
shows in the country. Barsky consistently scored stellar ratings in morning
drive at CAU-FM, which eventually led to mornings in Chicago at WLS-FM,
where he took the morning show from a cellar dweller to a ratings winner
in two years. During his time in Chicago, Barsky took a break from his
work on air to pursue his dream of radio station ownership. In the end,
he missed his true love of entertaining and decided to return to morning
radio at Houston's KRBE.
Although he enjoyed his time in Texas, Barsky was eventually lured back
to his adopted hometown of Philadelphia to host mornings at Y100. It was
at Y100 where he was named by industry trade publication FMQB as "The
Best Major Market Show of the Year". Barsky's versatility as a radio performer
with both male and female demographics served him well as he dominated
the Philly airwaves at stations like WMMR, where he was honored by Radio
and Records in the "Rock Personality of the Year" category, Hot AC WPTP
where he served as Operations Manager/ Morning Host and CBS Radio's FREE-FM
WYSP where he did a talk show. He hosted a Sports Talk morning show on
1053 The Fan in Dallas, and he most recently hosted a unique humor driven
News Talk show covering all of South Florida. In addition to his passion
for entertaining his radio audience, Barsky is also very passionate about
giving back to his community. Over the years, his original show events
and comedy CD's have raised thousands of dollars for local charities in
the Philadelphia area.
